Two students from Indonesia have returned to study at the University 20 years after first studying in Huddersfield.

Djoni Ashari and Eko Andrijanto completed their studies in 1990 and are now back at the University doing further degrees.

While Djoni has commenced his Master's studies in Engineering Control Systems and Instrumentation, Eko has just begun a three-year PhD research project on catalysts for bio-diesel production with Dr Nick Powles and Professor Mike Page from the University.

After Eko completed his HND Graduate Royal Society of Chemistry, he went back to his home country and became a lecturer in Chemical Engineering and Industrial Chemistry before practising as a Chemical Engineer for his current employers The Bandung State Polytechnic.

The Indonesian government are sending 1,500 students overseas to commence research, of which 10% have come to the UK.

"It's my first time back to Huddersfield since 1990 and I was very impressed and amazed at the campus transformation. New hi-tech buildings have now been built and the facilities are amazing. I have also noticed that there is a vast amount of professoriate and a good mix of international students now at Huddersfield."
